The Murtha Cancer Center at Walter Reed Bethesda (MCC) is a triservice center that offers extensive cancer care, a center where military beneficiaries can receive exceptional care in all disciplines of cancer treatment. The Center resulted from the integration of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, National Naval Medical Center, Malcolm Grow Medical Clinic, and the U.S. Military Cancer Institute. Our over 330 board-certified oncologists and professional clinical and support staff are highly specialized in all aspects of cancer care – from first diagnosis, through therapy and follow up care, to survivorship. We have enhanced our capabilities by teaming with the Uniformed Services University and the National Cancer Institute to provide excellent state-of-the-science cancer care.

The Cancer Center has formed a one-of-a-kind cancer care organization and has achieved designation by the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs as the DoD Cancer Center of Excellence. Its vision is to operate a world class Cancer Center conducting state-of-the-art clinical care and innovative research for the military and its beneficiaries. Its mission is to work to improve the diagnosis and multidisciplinary treatment of its cancer patients through innovative clinical care, research, and education. Using professional and community outreach, education, and prevention services the Cancer Center will enhance the readiness of the military, its families, and beneficiaries.
