Welcome to the DoD Breast Care and Research Center of Excellence (CoE)

The Breast Care and Research Center is the result of the merger of National Naval Medical Center’s Breast Center and the Walter Reed Army Medical Center’s Clinical Breast Care Project bringing the best of clinical care and research to the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

The program utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to breast disease, integrating prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment with advances in risk reduction, tissue banking, research, and informatics.

Services Provided or Supported at our Breast Care and Research Center:
  • Detection and follow-up screening at our newly designed Breast Imaging Center
  • Pre and post-operative breast care
  • Physical therapy including pre-operative assessment, post-operative therapy and lymphedema management
  • Educational resources
  • Case management
  • Social work services such as individual or family counseling/psychotherapy and various support groups
  • Genetic counseling
  • Breast cancer research
