Fisher Houses
Naval Support Activity, Bethesda

The Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher Houses

First lady Michelle Obama and Fisher House Foundation Chairman Ken Fisher dedicated the first of three new Fisher Houses at Naval Support Activity, Bethesda in December 2010. There are now five total Fisher Houses onboard NSAB - the most on one base within the DoD system. The Fisher House program on base provides military families 73 private rooms, 62 of which are ADA compliant suites. The Fisher House is a place for family members to stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. Patients who are medically cleared may also stay at the Fisher Houses.

The Fisher Houses provide a "home away from home" for families of patients admitted for medical care at the medical center. The Fisher Houses represent the commitment to provide quality care and support to patients and their families during a time of need. Providing five homes for families, the Fisher Houses offer comfortably furnished rooms with bathrooms, fully equipped kitchens, living, dining, and laundry rooms. Three of the houses have play rooms for children.

"It's a place where you can talk with people who are going through the same thing you are"

Fisher House Foundation generously provides a grant for all families staying at the NSAB Fisher Houses. The Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher Houses provide comfort to families who are coping with a medical crisis of a loved one and ease the burden of having to locate local lodging accommodations. The Fisher Houses are located on the grounds of the Naval Support Activity, Bethesda next to the Navy Lodge.
